| Community property is not the same as joint tenancy Q: Re: your article in the Business Outlook for 12 June 2008 under the title “Joint tenants/tenancy must be on deed.” I've looked at our property deed(s). Our property is made up of a full lot and a small portion of a second lot. There are deeds for both of these pieces. One is just to us as a married couple, and the small piece is held in joint tenancy. Later, a combined deed was filed transferring title from us as joint tenants to us as community property. This is the final deed for the property. Is community property the same as joint tenancy? Should we redo the deed again, making it joint tenancy? W.L., Albuquerque |

Make sure that you actually want equity investment in your business. |
| Businesses can help health care crisis The Association of Commerce and Industry would like to take this opportunity to respond to those who believe that business is not doing our part to help with the health care issue. We are, in fact, aggressively tackling health care reform in our state. ACI agrees that business should take a leadership role in health care reform and that we need to reduce health care costs while increasing access to quality care. We believe that to accomplish this we need a private, free-market solution, coupled with a maximization of public sponsored health care programs, that addresses the real cost drivers in the health care system and seeks broad-based, shared solution to provide coverage for the uninsured. |
